The Kolkata Knight Riders secured a dominant victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 81 runs in Match 9 of the IPL 2023. RCB won the toss and chose to bowl first at the Eden Gardens stadium. KKR put up an impressive total of 204/7 in their 20 overs, thanks to a solid opening partnership between Rahmanullah Gurbaz (57 runs off 44 balls) and Rinku Singh (46 runs off 33 balls). Shardul Thakur played a blinder toward the end, scoring 68 runs off just 29 balls. David Wiley and Karn Sharma were the picks of the bowlers for RCB, taking two wickets each.

In response, RCB got off to a good start with Faf Du Plessis (23 runs off 12 balls) and Virat Kohli (21 runs off 18 balls) at the top of the order. However, the middle order collapsed under the pressure of KKR's bowling attack, and RCB was all out for 123 in just 17.4 overs. Varun Chakravarthy was the standout bowler for KKR, taking four wickets for just 15 runs in his 3.4 overs. Suyash Sharma and Sunil Narine also chipped in with three and two wickets respectively.
In the end, KKR's dominant performance with both bat and ball led them to a comfortable victory over RCB.
